About Avarice the Gold Cursed

Avarice the Gold Cursed is a hulking treasure demon who drags a massive chest into the arena and fights with a golden hammer, chains and pools of molten gold. He is widely considered the most mobile of the launch world bosses because of his portal teleports. Avarice holds slots 3 and 4 of the 8-spawn rotation, right after Wandering Death and before Ashava.

How Avarice's spawn time is calculated

Every Diablo 4 world boss spawns on one global clock: one spawn every 3.5 hours (210 minutes), counted from the verified anchor spawn at 2026-10-08 13:30 UTC. The four bosses rotate in pairs — Wandering Death ×2 → Avarice ×2 → Ashava ×2 → Azmodan ×2 — so one full rotation is 8 spawns, or 28 hours.

• Avarice's rotation slots: 3 and 4 of 8. Avarice follows Wandering Death and is followed by Ashava.
• Pattern: two back-to-back Avarice spawns 3.5 hours apart, then a 21-hour gap before the next pair. Each pair lands 4 hours later in the day than the previous one.
• Next two Avarice spawns (UTC): Sat, Oct 10, 00:30 UTC and Sat, Oct 10, 04:00 UTC. The live countdown above converts these to your time zone.
• Confidence: the spawn time is exact. The first spawn of a pair sits on a rotation boundary where trackers occasionally disagree, so it is labelled "predicted"; the second is "on cycle". Confirm in-game one hour before via the map icon.

Avarice mechanics

• Hammer slam and charge: Avarice winds up a huge golden hammer, then charges or slams. The impact zone is telegraphed on the ground; move sideways, not backwards.
• Portal teleport: he periodically vanishes into a gold portal and reappears elsewhere in the arena, usually with an immediate hammer attack. Re-position fast when he disappears.
• Chain sweep: a wide chain swing that covers a half-circle in front of him. Stay to his sides or behind him when possible.
• Molten gold pools: puddles of burning gold linger on the floor. They deal heavy damage over time and shrink the safe area as the fight goes on.
• Treasure chest: Avarice drags a giant chest. Staggering him makes him drop it and opens a short damage window.

Where does Avarice spawn?

The spawn zone is not predictable in advance. Avarice can appear in any of the seven world boss arenas; a boss icon marks the zone on your map one hour before the fight.

Tips for the Avarice fight

• Watch his feet, not his hammer: the ground telegraph tells you where the slam lands.
• When he portals away, assume he reappears next to the group. Spread out instead of clumping on his last position.
• Molten gold pools stay for a long time. Fight near the arena edges early so the center stays clear for later.
• Stagger him when his chest is down to burst a large chunk of HP.
